ST. JOHN'S TAVERN

ARCHWAY N19
The St Johns Tavern was opened in its present guise as a dining pub in October 1998.

It had long been an ambition of ours to bring back the approach of quality, seasonal, informal eating, such as we have seen in London since the beginning of the nineties. The Bistro, meson, l’ostaria, trattoria, winstub and auberge are some of the European equivalents of what we wanted to achieve, albeit with a British feel.

St Johns has a cavernous, theatrical dining hall at the rear, boasting a large open fire where tables or banquettes may be reserved. At the front there is a light and airy bar, serving draught ales, ciders and European wines.

A daily changing menu is available throughout the building and the bar also boasts a separate menu, which includes Scotch eggs, mutton pasties, and charcuterie, smoked and pickled fish amongst other things.

In 2009/2010 The Tavern has undergone an English Heritage restoration with the intention of bringing back its original architectural detail.
